An 8-week group therapy course
to help you deal with
Stress, Anxiety and Depression
Mindfulness involves paying attention to each event experienced in the present moment within our body and mind, with a non-judgmental, non-reactive and accepting attitude. If we could apply this mindful attitude to our daily stressful situations, we would be able to experience them in a more impersonal, detached and acceptable way. But this is a typical example of ‘easier said than done.’ Such application usually requires specific training of mindful meditation as well as a sound understanding of its rationale.
A great opportunity exists for people who want to learn this ‘key to peace of mind’ as I will be offering another 8-week group therapy soon - by mid-2015. If you would like to learn a traditional mindfulness meditation technique and how to apply the technique to our modern lives to decrease stress, anxiety and depression, please contact Living Well Psychology & Counselling to book a pre-group individual assessment session with Mikako. This group therapy will be offered to adults experiencing stress, anxiety or depression and who have 10 group and individual sessions under the Better Access scheme this year.
During the 8-week group sessions and 8 supplemental individual feedback sessions, participants will be taken through the 4 stages of Mindfulness-integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT). MiCBT is an evidence-based therapy approach derived from Vipassana meditation training and the principles of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and it has demonstrated to reduce symptoms in a broad range of psychological disorders. The participants will learn to regulate attention and emotions in Stage 1, to apply the regulation skills to daily stresses in Stage 2, to apply the skills to interpersonal problems in Stage 3 and to learn relapse prevention skills in Stage 4.
